Add route dialog is never a transient window.

Fixes a hack where it's transient parent was used to give an order hint
(for the order key of any new tracks).
This commit adds a new combobox "insert_at" to let the user tell us
where they want new tracks to go.

Ignore playhead when finding delta from edit position for main clocks
...
Pass 'ignore_playhead == true' to Editor::get_preferred_edit_position()
when calculating offset of the primary and secondary main clocks if 'delta
to edit cursor' is selected, so that if the edit point is playhead, the
selected marker (if any) or mouse position will be used as the delta origin
instead.

Remove the is_xrun parameter from Editor::mouse_add_new_marker(), and just

combine short periodic timeout functions for windows.

Fixes excessive CPU usage (spinlock instead of sleep/WaitForSingleObject)
MS Windows has a scheduler time-slice of 15ms.
Ardour has two fast timeout functions: The FPS timeout (20-60Hz, clock
video-monitor) and a fast-screen-update (25Hz, meters etc).
They are loosely coupled (async) and scheduled from the main application
thread (gtk main).
Since they're async, gtk schedules them as needed. Even though the actual
period of the separate timeouts is larger. The effective period between
all timeout callbacks is <15ms and the main application thread never idles.

Rationalize ArdourButton and lots of associated theming issues.
...
ArdourButtons now have a "pushed" animation.
The gradient is now implemented in the button, rather than providing 2 colors in the theme, which was burdensome.
Lots of code cleanup in ArdourButton. Removed several unnecessary flags.
Refactor more stuff into route_ui.

Add a couple of function calls so that Ardour will perform some basic cleanup when the user exits

Up until now we were relying on various d'tors to do this cleanup for us. However, because we were calling 'exit()' (to terminate the program) those d'tors were never getting called. We should probably review the use of exit() as a termination strategy.

lots of keybinding changes. added a new action to allow removing markers at the playhead location. numpad now allows you to access marks higher than 9. to locate to a marker, use the numpad decimal to start and end the operation - for example press .19. to locate to marker 19. also added alternate bindings for redo, delete, and several other alternates that will be needed in subsequent commits. tab is not working, using either Tab or nabla in the binding.in file

fix the naming and behavior of always-play-range to match the button, which is follow-edits. when you select a range, the playhead should jump to the start of the range and begin to play the selection. BUT (unlike previous implementation) if the user wants to relocate the playhead, then that should be allowed. The user should always remain in charge of the playhead location. NOTE: your previous config setting will be invalidated. You must re-save a session to overwrite with the new config variable

Fix opening of recent sessions with mismatched directory & file names
...
When populating the list of recent sessions, and there's only one session
file in the session folder, don't assume that the base name of the session
file is the same as the name of the session directory.
Allows loading sessions that were created with trailing spaces in their
names from the recent sessions list, and also helps in the case that the
session file (or directory) was renamed.
There are actually two implementations of the 'recent sessions' chooser:
this applies to both. I suppose a useful project one of these days
would be to unify the two...

fix redrawing of canvas with an optimized build

Best guess right now is that optimization does something bad when ceil() is called twice on a very large dbl-precision number,
which results in a zero (empty) redraw area. Without the removal of the redundant ceil & floor functions, no expose events
would be delivered to the canvas in an optimized build during drags (and maybe more).

every session member is now initialized using C++ constructor syntax
session construction reordered to clarify the split(s) between work
where the engine is not relevant and work where is it is. this
split is still not 100% obvious, but is enormously clearer than
previously.
if engine/backend are not running as session is created, and the SR
of the sample rate is known, attempt to force backend to that value.

Wrap calls to add_shortcut_folder() in try { ... } block.

Gtk::FileChooserButton::add_shortcut_folder() throws a Glib::Error
exception if the folder being added already has a shortcut, causing the
'New session' dialogue to appear empty when choosing 'New...' from the
Session menu. This happens if Ardour's default session folder is
set to a location that has a standard shortcut in the Gtk file chooser,
e.g. the user's home directory, desktop, &c.
Catch the exception in ArdourStartup::setup_new_session_page(), so that the
'New session' dialogue appears as expected, and likewise in
ARDOUR_UI::open_session() to avoid a similar problem there.
Fixes #5591 .

vtl: check if server's docroot matches ardour's config

NOTE: this breaks backwards compatibility with icsd and
harvid < 0.3.0 which do not report their settings.
It may also conflict with harvid running on localhost in a chroot.
Ideally this will be a warning only.
That the user can choose to ignore this and should get the option
to stop the video-server and re-start it using a different docroot.

vtl: rework session-needs-save logic

* videotimeline now immediately marks the session dirty on
every state-changing operation
* video-montor is polled every 2.5 seconds for menu-relevant state info
(ontop, OSD,..) and every 30 seconds for full state (window pos, size,..)
* new interface to query the video-monitor for its state and wait for
all replies - terminating the process and using ::wait() is no longer
required
* Ardour> quit and Ardour > close-session does no longer close the video
session to enforce video-monitor state sync but uses above new interface

sometimes, you just have to do what a windows programmer would do. add a global signal, ARDOUR::GUIIdle() which can be used in the middle of long-running backend operations to give the GUI a chance to update. use it while adding routes.

tweak Smart Mode to be more like Mixbus. Smart mode is just a modifier on Object mode which provides Range selection in the top half of the waveform. probably lots of corner cases to clear up before its all over, but at least we can use Mixbus as a consistent target rather than making it all up again.

Always Play Range is now Follow Edits, and is based on Mixbus implementation. Added menu item. Follow Edits button replaces Auto Play; removed the connector between play and play-range. Some Smart Mode changes came along for the ride but will be cleaned up shortly

notably modify the design and logic of the startup dialog, so that we can handle the requirements in the 3.0-SG branch reasonably. the two major changes concern the idea that we may need to run the audio setup tab at all times, and that the startup dialog could potentially be "ready" without actually needing to be displayed on-screen. this allows us to ALWAYS use a startup dialog, even if we don't actually need any information from the user. as usual with this kind of change, expect a few logic/workflow glitches

provide an easier way to add mixed (audio+MIDI) tracks to a session, to facilitate the use of plugins like Reaktor which accept both audio & MIDI data. there's probably still a paradigm shift waiting to happen here but its likely post-3.0.
