If you are some distance away from the computer running Ardour and you need to
record audio, one of the options is to add the plugin called _Voice/Level
Activate_ which is part of the Ardour's bundle. Place it in the beginning of
the signal chain in the processor box, that is, at the very top. Once you arm
the track and enable the recording mode, clapping hands in front of a mic or
plucking a guitar string will trigger the transport to roll and thus start
recording. Tweak the threshold value (measured in dBFS) to make it work for
you.
