autowaf.py is present in the tools directory of the Ardour source code.

a patch for C++11/clang can be found in tools/waflib.patch (needed for waf 1.8.19)
Current waf is build as follows;
Add instructions for updating waf lest I get hit by a bus git-svn-id: svn://localhost/ardour2/branches/3.0@10165 d708f5d6-7413-0410-9779-e7cbd77b26cf
